Triangle Youth String Orchestra

Triangle Youth String Orchestra is for students in Grades 4 - 6 to learn ensemble skills. Members should be able to read music and have prior experience, such as private lessons or school orchestra. There is no audition required to participate in TYSO. One week before the first TYSO rehearsal, the conductor will become acquainted with each participant’s playing, by hearing a line from a solo, to provide the best possible experience in the orchestra. A summer session for the Triangle Youth String Orchestra is also offered. 

TYSO Musicians Rehearse on Tuesdays from 6:30-8:00 PM at Cary Arts Center.

Tuition for the 2025-2026 Season: $650

Triangle Youth String Sinfonia

The Triangle Youth String Sinfonia is open to musicians in grades 7 – 12. Members should be able to read music and have prior experience, such as private lessons or school orchestra. There is no audition required to participate in TYSS. One week before the first TYSS rehearsal, the conductor will become acquainted with each participant’s playing, by hearing a line from a solo, to provide the best possible experience in the orchestra.

Triangle Youth Jazz Lab

Triangle Youth Jazz Lab provides beginning jazz ensemble training with the goal of eventual transition to our more advanced ensembles.

Instrumentation

Musicians, 4th grade and above, who play alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, trumpet, trombone, piano, string bass or bass guitar, guitar, or drums. Students should have a sincere interest in learning to play jazz, be able to read music, and have a minimum of one-year of school ensemble or private instruction.

TYJL Musicians Rehearse on Sundays from 12:15-1:15 PM at Price Music Center, NCSU.
